Can I already pre-register .eu domains with EURid?

No, you cannot. EURid has currently not yet started the so called \"sunrise period\" during which official requests for registration of a .eu domain name can be introduced. Before starting the registrations for the .eu TLD a number of important steps still need to be taken. First of all, EURid has signed an agreement with the European Commission on 12 Oct 2004. After that, ICANN (the not-for-profit organisation overseeing the DNS system) still has to delegate the .eu code and has to include it in the DNS root servers. EURid will also have to negotiate a contract with ICANN. Only then a network of registrars can be developed through whom applications for the registration of .eu domain names can be introduced.

Once .eu registrars are accredited they are allowed to accept pre-registrations for their customers. At the start of the live registrations, they will introduce their pre-registrations in the automated systems of EURid for processing. In case certain domain names were pre-registered several times, the automated systems will determine on a \"first come, first served\" basis which pre-registration will eventually lead to a definitive registration (the huge load of simultaneous applications will also generate a randomising effect).

Prior to the start of the registrations under .eu there will also be a \"sunrise period\". During this period holders of certain rights (e.g. trademark holders) will have the opportunity to apply for the registration of the corresponding .eu domain name.

Those applications will of course be evaluated and in case of approval the applicant will be informed that he is entitled to register the corresponding .eu domain name through an accredited .eu registrar of his choice.

So, similar to the model used for the \"live\" registrations, applications based on priority rights will ultimately need to be introduced through the registrars during the \"sunrise period\" and cannot be transmitted directly to EURid by the applicant.

The start of the \"sunrise period\" will be announced by EURid well in advance in order to allow sufficient time for the introduction of the applications. In order to get informed about the latest details on the \"sunrise period\" it is recommended to pay a visit to the main site of EURid at regular times.

nå, men så kan du grine lidt af mig...

Jeg tilmeldte mig for 1 år siden til euroDNS med to domæner, jeg gerne vil have til at bo under eu, idet jeg tænkte det ville være godt at kunne vise, atjeg har stået længe i kø. For en uge siden fik jeg et brev om, at nu var de blevet certificeret, og i dag gik jeg ind og betalte for at få det ene domæne placeret i sunrise2 (et familienavn) = 100 euro og det andet som sunrise1 (almindeligt domænenavn) = 50 euro - ialt 1600 kr, som inkluderede 2 x 18 euro for 2 x 1 års registrering.

Tilfældet ville have det, at jeg derefter lige kom på, om mon peter var blevet eu-certificeret, og fandensparkemig om ikke han var! Så, jeg reagerede lige så "nervøst" som med registreringen, dvs. jeg gik ind og blokerede betalingen for de to sunrise-tilmeldinger.

Og NU ved jeg hverken ind eller ud. Jeg kan frisætte blokeringen inden de 10 dage, som EUROdns har sagt - citat følger her

We recently sent the following e-mail to all of those of you  who pre-registered one or more ".eu" domains with EuroDNS.
 
While many of you have already responded and confirmed your request, we have not yet had a reaction from all of you.  
 
We therefore remind you that we will retain the priority of your original application in our files if you confirm and pay your .eu application within the next 10 days. At the end of this month your final ranking will be displayed.

If you do not confirm and pay your .eu application you will lose your current pre-registration ranking (based on timestamp) as all confirmed application will move up in the ranking. Non confirmed rankings will be deleted.

Jeg har flyttet mine domæner til gratisdns, og ville helst handle hér, men hvad med mine præregistreringer? Jeg forstår faktisk ikke, om de præregistreringer, jeg lavede for 1 år siden duer til noget eller ej. Vil I hjælpe mig?

Da der er tale om en sunrise periode så vil du hvis du er alene få domænet hvis der er flere der vil have domænet skal man så vidt jeg ved i budrunde på det.

Det vil ige den registrering du har lavet for 1 år siden er nøjagtig det samme værd som den du kan lave hos Peter inden længe. Den eneste forskel er, at det er billigere hos Peter
